Lead Bank announces launch of the “For Change Initiative”

Jun 1, 2016

KANSAS CITY, MO (JUNE 2016) - Since the start of the “For Change Initiative” in 2016, Lead Bank is proud to announce that its pioneering “For Change Initiative” has currently exceeded expectations in its first six months. Lead Bank has completed seven loans to two Kansas City area contractors who otherwise may not have been able to receive financing under traditional financing options available from other banks, totaling nearly $2 million in small business support.

Stepping forward as the financial leader in supporting small businesses, Lead Bank was thrilled to be announced as a first strategic partner with the City of Kansas City, Missouri “For Change Initiative” last December at the Kansas City Government Contracting & Procurement (KCGCP) Forum, “Beyond All Limits.” This initiative aims to help small businesses grow financially by providing business loans to minority and women business owners that are contracted with the City of Kansas City. One of these business owners is Bobby Sarai, who received loans to help grow five of his contracted projects. “As one of the first participants of the “For Change Initiative”, I strongly believe in what Lead Bank is doing to help small business owners. Because of these loans, I’m able to expand my business and take on new job opportunities that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. We are grateful to be a part of this program and encourage others to get involved,” said Bobby Sarai, owner of S&A Contracting.

Sarai’s business, S&A Contracting, was founded in 1991, and he has been in the construction industry for over twenty years. The company works on a range of contracts, from city parks and recreation to the water department. The loans allowed him to expand his concrete work to more city bids. “Small business owners are a crucial part of Kansas City’s economy,” Lead Bank Vice Chairman Josh Rowland said. “Assisting entrepreneurs has always been a mainstay of Lead Bank and we’re here to help businesses win. Thanks to the city government, we have found another way to achieve this.”

Firms interested in applying for a loan or receiving banking services from Lead Bank are encouraged to visit Lead Bank at 1801 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64108 or call 816-220-8600 and reference the “For Change Initiative.” This is a great opportunity to help companies take their businesses to the next level.
